WELKcome to the 2014-15 season of the Brookfield Elks Jr. B Hockey

We are looking forward to an exciting season of
fast-paced Junior B hockey. 

After many years of dedicated service by the
previous board of directors, a new board has
taken over the organization for this year and
many more to come.

This new board of directors, led by former Truro
Junior A Bearcat scoring star Josh Boulton, is
excited to continue to bring intense Nova Scotia
Junior Hockey League play to Brookfield and all
of Colchester County.

Along with the new group behind the scenes
comes a new bench staff. The team will be led by head coach Patrick Stewart, a former
Truro Bearcat and Brookfield Elk, with assistants James Rutherford and Ernie McNea.

These coaches will bring a wide breadth of hockey knowledge, along with youthful
experience and the respect of the players.

The training camp was competitive and hard fought, with more than 45 players attending
camp at the Colchester Legion Stadium. After early rounds of cuts were made, the team
travelled to the OPOE Tournament to test their mettle. The coaching staff was impressed
after the players posted a 1-0-2 (W-L-T) record in three games.

The core of this year’s team will be built around youth, with veteran Brookfield Elks
providing leadership and mentoring the young players. You can guarantee they will come to
play every night.

Mark Tuesday, Oct. 7, 2014, on your calendars to come check out the exciting home
opener for the Brookfield Junior B Elks at the Don Henderson Memorial Sportsplex in
Brookfield. Game time is 7:30 p.m., and the opponents are the archrival East Hants
Penguins.
The rivalry between Brookfield and East Hants runs generations deep, so this should be a
great one.
There will be great entertainment during play stoppages, prizes, 50/50, and chuck-a-puck
just adding to the great on-ice excitement.
