The Liverpool Privateers visited the Brookfield Arena this evening for the only Jr. B game in the NSJHL

The Liverpool Privateers visited the Brookfield Arena this evening for the only Jr. B game in the NSJHL, but came away on the wrong end of a 5 – 2 score against the hometown Elks.

While the Elks had a rough start to 2015 as they lost a lopsided tilit to the Rival Penguins, the staff and team knew they wanted to set a better tone for 2015.

With the most complete lineup they've had in weeks, the Elks got of to a great start as the veterans set a hard fast pace off the opening faceoff and they got some great timely stops from their goaltender.

Scoring for the Elks were Connor Beck and Leon Knockwood with two goals each, and Matt Sampson with a single.

Matt MacMinn back-stopped the Elks for the win, stopping 34 of 36 shots directed at his goal.

Replying for the Privateers with single goals each were Nick Handrahan and Conor Carson.

Jacob Dempsey took the loss for the Privateers, stopping 26 of 30 shots, with on Elks goal scored into the empty net.

Both the Privateers and the Elks are on the road for their next games.

The Privateers visit the Cole Harbour Colts at 07:30 pm on Friday, 09 Jan and the Elks play the Pictou County Scotians in Trenton at 07:00 pm on Sunday, 11 Jan.
